Wuthering Heights (2011, Andrea Arnold) 15 cert

16 July, 2012 @ The Swan Theatre, Worcester

Splendid Cinema, in co-operation with WorcesterLive, return for the final film of our summer series, acclaimed British director Andrea Arnold‘s controversial Wuthering Heights

Based on the 1847 novel by Emily BronteWuthering Heights tells doomed love story of Catherine Earnshaw (played by Kaya Scodelario) and her dark lover Heathcliff (James Howson – in his film debut).

Andrea Arnold’s highly controversial adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic Gothic novel, which had been in ‘development hell’ for several years, with a variety of different directors and actors attached to the project. Director Arnold has always been uncompromising in her films, from 2006’s Red Road & 2009’s Fish Tank, and with Wuthering Heights she has crafted a remarkable film that’s sure to generate some discussions, particularly with Bronte purists.

Here’s the film’s trailer:

Wuthering Heights is screening on 16 July at 7:30 PM at the Swan Theatre. This film is rated 15.

Tickets are £5 (£4 concessions) through the Swan Theatre box office:
